Sizing depends on square footage, insulation, windows, and climate zone — a licensed installer confirms it with a load calculation before purchase. As a rough guide, 9–12k BTU covers a typical bedroom or office, 18–24k a large living area, and 36k+ whole-home or light-commercial zones.
